As Director of Family and Community Engagement, Meghan Schmidt is responsible for informing the long-term vision for family and community engagement in CICS. Meghan is also responsible for engaging the community by gathering and elevating family and student voice, holding parent meetings and supporting parent advocacy efforts, coordinating volunteers and creating and fostering community and citywide partnerships. Prior to joining CICS, Meghan spent years as a middle school teacher in urban, suburban and international schools. Meghan earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. Motivated by her love of sports, especially tennis, Meghan was one of the founders of South Side Junior Tennis Camp and hopes for a spot in next year’s Wimbledon draw.
