CICS is committed to communicating openly and transparently with its stakeholders, and sharing facts and correcting misinformation regarding our vibrant and diverse CICS network. CICS has fourteen campuses, CTU, the union representing teachers at four CICS campuses, has scheduled a strike authorization vote for next Friday, November 2.
The four campuses represented by CTU that will take a strike authorization vote are ChicagoQuest, Ralph Ellison, Northtown Academy and Wrightwood.
Our other ten campuses (Avalon, Basil, Bucktown, Lloyd Bond, Loomis Primary, Longwood, West Belden, Irving Park, Prairie, Washington Park) should not be affected by this strike authorization vote.
CICS is not the employer of teachers at our campuses, and therefore is not involved in contract negotiations. Nonetheless, due to the recent misinformation published about CICS’ Network, CICS must set the record straight.
CICS genuinely respects and appreciates the talented and committed education innovators employed by each of our school management partners who work tirelessly in support of the 8,300 students attending CICS’ 14-campuses, 92% of whom are Black and Latinx.
CICS is troubled by CTU’s threatened strike and the obvious harm it will cause to our students and their families. Nonetheless, we remain hopeful that, through continuing good-faith negotiations, a strike will be avoided.
