CICS Northtown Academy Senior Named a 2024 Chicago Cubs Scholar

Neyda Estefania, a standout student from CICS Northtown Academy’s Class of 2025, has been selected as a 2024 Chicago Cubs Scholar. This prestigious honor was awarded to only 13 students across all of Chicago Public Schools. Each recipient receives a $20,000 scholarship and access to Cubs College Prep, a mentoring program designed to support the transition from high school to college.  

Neyda’s achievement was recently highlighted by FOX32, where Neyda shared her excitement about the life-changing opportunities this scholarship will bring. "The Cubs Scholars, it's shown me that there's no such thing as limitations. Because I thought that, OK, I did it. I got this scholarship. What now?" Neyda Estefania said. 

Adding to the significance of this moment, Golzar Shobieri, CICS Northtown alumna and a 2014 Cubs Scholar proudly passed the torch of excellence to Neyda during the event. Golzar, a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois Chicago, is now excelling as an engineer, proving what’s possible for our students and inspiring generations of Northtown Pumas to reach new heights.

This special honor for Neyda also comes as CICS Northtown Academy, managed by Meridian Charter Schools, celebrates recent accolades, including being named a top Illinois charter school by Niche and one of Chicago’s top public high schools by Chicago Reader.
